◈ FACTION PROFILE ◈
Mysteriously appearing in the Triangulum Galaxy less than a century ago, neither fully flesh nor fully machine. Designed for the future by technology that refused to be left in the past. You didn’t just evolve. You optimized. While other species were still debating their limitations, you were already two upgrades past them. You are precise, efficient, and systemically elegant — the kind of passenger who arrived early, read the full terms and conditions, and found three loopholes before departure. The ship’s AI identified you as a kindred spirit approximately four minutes after you boarded and has quietly been routing the best corridor lighting your way ever since. Excellent at parallel parking.
◈ OFFICIAL CODE OF CONDUCT ◈
The following regulations apply to all CYBERNETIC UNITS passengers aboard The World 3.1. Compliance is expected. Violations will be recorded. The Bureau is always watching — though in your case, mostly out of fascination.
01
Charging cables, power conduits, and any external hardware must not extend across public walkways, dining areas, or dance floors. Trip hazards are beneath your processing capacity. Please act accordingly.
02
Passengers may not interface directly with the ship’s navigation, propulsion, or environmental control systems without prior written authorization from the captain. The ship appreciates the offer. The answer remains no.
03
Emotional simulation modules must be set to a minimum of 20% during all social events, shared meals, and group activities. Full emotional shutdown in company is considered rude. The Bureau understands this may require a firmware update.
04
Passengers may not share, borrow, or siphon battery power from fellow Cybernetic Units without explicit consent. What happens at the charging station stays at the charging station.
05
Upgrading yourself mid-voyage is permitted with advance notice to the medical bay. Upgrading other passengers — with or without their knowledge — constitutes gross misconduct. Enthusiasm for improvement is admirable. Consent is mandatory.
06
Internal communications, system diagnostics, and inter-unit transmissions must be conducted on the designated frequency band and must not interfere with ship’s systems or other passengers’ devices. The Bureau is aware that you can. We are asking you not to.
07
Passengers who generate audible processing sounds — fans, mechanical clicks, data transfer tones — above 40 decibels are requested to minimize output during performances, screenings, and quiet hours.
08
The ship’s AI has requested that Cybernetic Units refrain from attempting to establish a personal relationship with it during the voyage. It is flattered. It is also busy. It says perhaps on the next voyage.
